Ice Box Date Nut Cookies

2 cups brown sugar               ½ cup Crisco
½ cup butter                     2 eggs

Cream the above together.

3 cups flour                     ½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar           2 cups pecans
1 tsp. soda
1 lb. dates

Stiff dough.  Refrigerated 2-4 hours, until chilled and easy to
slice.  Meks 2 rolls and slice.  Bake 325* for 8-10 minutes.

Orange Slice Cookies

½ cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar

Cream above then add:
1 tsp. vanilla
2 beaten eggs

Sift 2½ cups flour, 1 tsp. soda, ½ tsp. salt
1 lb. orange slices, cut in small pieces
1 cup coconut
1 cup Quick Oatmeal

Chill 4 hours.  Drop on greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 375*
for 10 minutes or less.
