Catsup

1 gal tomato pulp
4 c vinegar
4 c sugar
1 tsp of each: black pepper, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg,
               ground mustard, celery salt
1/3 tsp red pepper
1 box pickling spices
1 medium onion chopped

Tie picling spices, onions & garlic in a white cotton cloth.
Boil with all ingredients for 2 hours.  Add 2½ Tbsp cornstarch,
dissolved in a little water.  Continue boiling for 10 minutes,
stirring constantly.  Seal while hot.

Dumplings

1 c water                   --Bring to boil.
dash of salt                  Add flour all at once.  Beat til
¼ c butter or margarine       smooth.  Cool.  Add eggs one at a time
1 c flour                     mixing thoroughly after each, til
                              glossy.  Drop by spoonsful into hot
                              soup, put on lid and DON'T PEAK for
                              at least 5 minutes.

Hot Chocolate Sauce

3/4 c white sugar                     --Combine in sauce pan and
¼ c butter or margarine                 cook over moderate heat,
2 1oz envelopes of liquid chocolate     stirring until blended.
2 Tbsp corn syrup
dash of salt
¼ c milk      -----Add and bring to a boil, stirring constantly
                   til thickened.  Remove from heat.
2 tsp vanilla --stir in.  Serve warm on ice cream.

Pancakes

2 c flour                --Mix together & fry.  For thinner batter,
1 tsp salt                 add about ¼-½ c milk.
2 tsp baking powder
2 Tbsp sugar               SYRUP --Heat together -- 1 lb brown sugar
2 eggs                                              1 c water
2 c milk                   Boil uncovered about 5 minutes or as
1 c melted shortening      thick as you want.  Add ½ tsp maple
                           flavoring.  (can use 1 c brown sugar &
                           1 c white sugar, lighter syrup.)

Whole Tomato Soup

6 c cooked tomatoes         --Combine in pan and bring to boil.
3/4 tsp soda                  Stir well to break up tomatoes.
6 Tbsp butter or margarine
12 cups milk      ---Slowly add tomato mixture to milk.  Heat on
                     low heat.  Salt & pepper to taste.
                     STIR CONSTANTLY--- DO NOT BOIL, it will curdle.
