Boiled Cookies

2 c. sugar                     )
½ c. milk                      )   Put in a pan and bring to
½ c. butter or margarine       )-- a boil for one minute.
3 Tbsp. cocoa                  )   Remove from heat.

Beat    2 c quick oatmeal
  in    ½ c peanut butter
        1 tsp. vanilla
        ½ c chopped nuts or coconut
        (can add a few marshmellows--makes smoother cookies)
Drop by teaspoon on waxed paper.  Let cool for ½ hour.

Orange Cookie Bar

Beat  4 eggs                    cookie   Put in greased & floured
      2 2/3 c brown sugar         sheet  pan.  Cut while still

Uncooked Bar Cookie

1 c. dark syrup   )--- Put in pan on low heat.  Stir until
1 c white sugar   )    sugar is dissolved.

Quickly stir in --1½ c peanut butter
Remove from heat.
    Add:  8 - 10 c Rice Krispies (or similar cereal)
Press into greased cookie sheet, using back of greased tablespoon.
    Melt 1 package choc. chips in double boiler.  Spread over bars.
    (can melt chips in microwave in glass bowl covered with saran
     wrap.  Set on medium for 3 minutes.  Will still hold their
     shape and be shiny looking.)
Cut when choc. is cool.

White Peppernuts

1 pound butter or lard )
2 c sweet milk         )   Put into pan and boil until thick like
dash of salt           )-- boiled frosting.  Pour into bowl and
8 c white sugar        )   cool a little.

           1 tsp cinnamon
           ½ tsp ground cloves
Add --     ½ tsp nutmeg
           ½ tsp allspice
           dash of pepper
           (may add lemon or orange peel, nuts, etc.)

Dissolve 2 tsp soda in 1 tbsp brown vinegar and add to above mix.

Add enough flour to make a soft dough.
Then add 7 eggs.  Work dough until smooth.
Add enough flour to make a stiff dough.
Roll into long sausage-like rolls and put into air-tight
    containers.  Put in cold place for at least a week, freezing
    improves the flavor.  When ready to bake, slice dough about
    ½ inch thick and bake in a slow oven (300°).
These keep a long time.  They are "dunking" cookies.  Makes 5 gallon.
